In EOSC-CONNECT, coordinated by CSC, Data Terra leads WP4, “EOSC Federating Capabilities Supporting Data Interoperability”. Data Terra, through CNRS in coordination with IRD and INRAE as affiliated entities, brings complementary expertise in multidisciplinary technical interoperability and semantic artefacts and catalogues, respectively. The most significant contribution to Data Terra’s operational development is around Semantic Interoperability with the Federation of Semantic Artefact Catalogues. This action will transform the OntoPortal federation prototype developed in FAIR-IMPACT project into a fully operational federated capability for EOSC by strengthening core technical services (Annotator, Recommender, and MOD-API), establishing a shared governance framework, and expanding the federation to additional research communities. It aims to the deployment of new capabilities on both AgroPortal and EarthPortal, directly enhancing the semantic capabilities of the Data Terra Node’s artefact catalogue and improving its discoverability within the EOSC Federation. Data Terra will also benefit from WP4 developments on inter-node data sharing (repository-to-repository interoperability and integration with the EEN Resource Catalogue), as well as from AI-based discovery services, including ADEF (led by INRIA) and Open Knowledge Maps, which will increase the visibility and accessibility of the Node’s resources for the European research community.
